There will now be a package of activities for juniors and seniors. For example, Chico and Oroville High Schools will have a prom on May 11. I missed a lot of teenage fun, like prom, because a drunk driver hit me when I was 16 in 1992.

I graduated in 1993 in a wheelchair with hearing problems. After 32 years my hearing is still damaged and I can walk as best I can. I am used to my daily challenges, but I try to avoid exposing others to them.

No one wants to live with these difficulties: I guarantee it. Believing that you can drive like a pro after a few beers is foolish. I’ve been trying to make that clear for over 15 years. Unforeseen injury or death can happen to yourself and others if you do not drive sober. I know.

Teens have a long road ahead of them. If you drink, first designate a sober driver. It is the best choice for everyone. Drinking and driving can mean a dead end for their future, but also for that of others.
