This story about several bystanders who risked their lives to pull a complete stranger from a burning car will restore your faith in humanity.

According to Fox newsOn April 18, a man was driving along I-94 in Minnesota around 6:30 p.m. when he veered off the road and crashed into a light pole. The impact caused the vehicle to catch fire. Several good Samaritans immediately stopped and jumped out of their cars to help.

“He was awake,” one of the heroes, Kadir Tolla, told the publication. “He said pull me out, pull me out, pull me out.”

Cameras on Kadir’s car captured footage of the courageous rescue, which shows a group of people desperately trying to open the driver’s side door as flames engulf the scene. However, the door was wedged against a guardrail and did not open far enough for rescuers to reach the driver.

Bystanders pulled the driver out of the burning car just in time

Kadir tried to break the window, but he couldn’t. He said the fire “hit us in the face,” but they refused to give up.

Finally a road worker came to the rescue. He managed to shatter the window, after which the group of bystanders pulled the driver out of the car – just in time.

“Right after we got him out, the fire started from the driver’s side of the car,” Kadir continued. “…It feels like you’re watching an action movie.”

The video shows the fire consuming the interior of the SUV just after bystanders cleared the area.

“That could be me one day,” he added. “What would happen if I was in that situation and my life was in the hands of strangers I don’t even know.”

Paramedics said the driver did not suffer any serious injuries, but they took him to a local hospital for a full evaluation.
