Jamie Carragher believes Erik ten Hag is on his way to Manchester United after the lucky win over Coventry.

United were three goals ahead of their Championship opponents in the FA Cup semi-final. But the Sky Blues produced one of the greatest comebacks in the competition’s history and sent the match to extra time.

Ten Hag’s team would win on penalties, but Carragher does not believe this will be enough to save his job. He pointed out that Coventry boss Mark Robins famously saved Sir Alex Ferguson’s job when he played for United.

Carragher believes that Robins has done the opposite for Ten Hag, who has had a poor second season. And the Liverpool legend has admitted there is no way back for the Dutchman.

“We looked at the end and Mark Robins famously kept a Man United manager in office. I think that result today cost a Man United manager his job. I don’t see how he stays, I know that not.” Carragher told Sky Sports.

“It’s just performance after performance and that’s like (gestures). I imagine the locker room is probably the most embarrassing locker room you can remember of a team that has won a big game.”

“Can you imagine the dressing room when you go in, they’re all looking at each other, they don’t know whether to celebrate? Is it bad that you’re in a cup final and you’ve come through? They’re probably fed up They all just stand there looking at each other.”
