NEWPORT – A Jay man was arrested Saturday afternoon and charged with reckless endangerment after allegedly discharging a firearm near another person on North Jay Road.

Vermont State Police arrested Benjamin Zev, 56, following a report from Danny Gosselin, 34, of North Troy, who alleged that Zev recklessly shot a gun close to him as he drove along the road.

The incident was reported at 1:22 p.m

Troopers, along with Vermont Fish and Game Wardens and Orleans County Sheriff Deputies, responded to the call and conducted an investigation, which led to Zev’s arrest without further incident.

Following his arrest, Zev was processed at the Vermont State Police Derby Barracks.

He was later released on a summons to appear in court to answer the reckless endangerment charge.
