The Kath & Kim house has undergone a huge makeover

Vaseline 2 months ago

Diehard fans of Kat & Kim have been destroyed in the modern mcmansion that now stands at the esteemed (albeit fictional) Fountain Lakes address once occupied by TV’s favorite Fox Morons.

WATCH NOW: Kath and Kim at the 2012 TV Week Logie Awards.

Towering over an idyllic suburban street in Melbourne’s Patterson Lakes, the new home is a far cry from the quaint brick home made iconic through Gina Riley and Jane Turner’s hit series.

The original house was demolished in 2022 after being sold for $1.48 million in November 2019.

Kath’s good room, the backyard where many a ‘wine time’ was celebrated and Kim’s collection of stuffed animals were all reduced to a mess to start over.

Peter Rowsthorn, who played Kim’s husband Brett, said he wasn’t surprised the “weird house” was sold and bulldozed.

“If I bought it, I’d probably tear it down too,” he said ABC radio.

Peter did add that the house contained many fond memories.

“I played cricket there in the backyard with Shane Warne,” Peter remembers fondly.

‘I was dancing in the garage with Kyle Minogue. I was having dinner with Barry Humphries, dressed as a monk.’

One destroyed Kat & Kim Melbourne superfan Maria Grande wished the property had been kept as it was.

She suggests it could have been turned into an Airbnb so fans could rent the “iconic and memorable space” for their chosen events.

Maria added that the house would have become a “landmark of our great city”, one that “links it to such a brilliant TV programme, loved by so many around the world”.
