The driver of a sedan was taken to hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening after a single-vehicle crash on the Trans-Canada Highway on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the eastbound lanes of the highway, about two kilometers east of Butterpot Provincial Park, just before 3 p.m. The driver of a car traveling eastbound lost control of the vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway. The car rolled several times before coming to rest on its wheels about a hundred yards from the highway. The driver, the only occupant of the car, was able to free himself from the heavily damaged car.

Reports at the scene indicate they were conscious, alert and speaking to first responders as they were helped to a waiting ambulance. They were taken to hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

One lane of the highway was closed for more than an hour due to emergency services work.
