ITV Britain’s Got Talent viewers have expressed their disappointment at a Golden Buzzer act who has gone straight to the semi-finals after discovering her previous West End career.

Fans took to Twitter as they were outraged after hearing that singing act Sydnie Christmas found early success in the entertainment industry. Amanda Holden presented the 28-year-old with the first Golden Buzzer of the 17th season on Saturday.

Sydnie, who currently works as a gym receptionist, performed ‘Tomorrow’ from the classic musical Annie. It not only impressed Amanda, but also fellow judges Simon Cowell, Bruno Tonioli and Alesha Dixon.

The lively musician was thrilled to advance straight to the semi-finals. She opened up about her struggle to establish herself as a singer and admitted that she had often wondered if she had chosen the right career path.

“I pinched myself. I thought this couldn’t be real… this doesn’t happen to people like me. I’ve wanted to do this forever. Being on stage, entertaining, performing and singing… singing is my thing, I I’ve been trying to achieve that for my entire career,” she said, according to the Mirror.

Despite her secure place on the show, disgruntled ITV viewers have questioned her claims after delving into her social media presence. They discovered that the Kent native actually has a significant amount of experience in the industry.

One viewer expressed disappointment, saying, “It’s a load of nonsense, I just looked her up, acting since 9, graduated from Performing School Art School, been in Starlight Express,” referring to the ninth longest running musical in West. End history. They continued with conviction: “Sydnie Christmas is a professional singer/actress already working in the West End. Thought #bgt was for amateurs, not professionals. She took the golden buzzer from someone who deserves it more.”
