Driver arrested in fatal crash on Highway 522 in Maltby

MALTBY – State troopers have arrested a Snohomish driver for allegedly rear-ending a motorcyclist on Highway 522 Friday, killing him.

According to the Washington State Patrol, a man in a Tesla Model S and a man on a Yamaha motorcycle were traveling eastbound on Fales Road around 3:45 p.m.

The motorcyclist, later identified as Jeffrey Nissen, slowed down due to traffic. The driver of the Tesla did not do so, officers said, and struck the motorcycle.

Nissen, 28, of Stanwood, was ejected. He died on the spot.

The State Patrol arrested the 56-year-old Tesla driver for investigation of vehicular homicide while distracted driving.
