Chingy opened up about how a fabricated rumor from transgender social media personality Sidney Starr, who claimed they had a sexual relationship, significantly damaged his career. In a recent interview with TMZ, the 44-year-old rapper reflected on the lie’s devastating impact on his once-thriving music career, noting that even Starr’s subsequent admission of lying did little to repair the damage.

“When that happened, I lost a lot based on a lie, which was the strangest thing I’ve ever seen,” Chingy explained. He described the long-lasting impact of the accusation and emphasized that nothing positive came out of the situation for him, even after the apology.

The “Jackpot” rapper lamented the loss of his career momentum due to the incident, pointing to shady industry politics and sabotage as factors that contributed to his disappearance from the spotlight. According to Chingy, public perception changed dramatically, leading many to speculate about the reasons behind his sudden absence from the music scene.

Chingy also said that while he accepted Starr’s apology, he never fully reconciled with her, preferring to distance himself and move on. “It looked like spilled milk, and I lost a lot because of it. That person won,” he noted, indicating his desire to completely separate himself from the ordeal.

The controversy began in 2010 when a photo of Chingy and Starr together went viral, leading Starr to falsely claim they were in a relationship. This claim led to widespread speculation about Chingy’s sexuality and negatively affected his career trajectory. Starr later confessed in 2012 that she had made up the entire story to boost her own career, but the damage to Chingy’s reputation and professional life had already been done, and the two remained at odds over the years.
