Draper police officer, teens sent to hospital after car crash

DRAPER, Utah – A Draper police officer and two teenagers were in the hospital after a car crash Saturday evening.

Lt. Mike Ekins of the Draper Police Department said at 10:30 p.m., a DPD officer was pursuing a vehicle for reckless driving. The officer and vehicle were traveling eastbound at 12300 S.

The officer turned on his lights and attempted to stop the vehicle when his patrol car struck another vehicle traveling northbound. There were two teenagers in this vehicle.

Ekins said both the officer and the teens suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. All were transported to local hospitals.

The police officer was released from hospital the following Sunday.

Sandy police are investigating the accident. No further information is available at this time.
