Two people in hospital after two car crashes in Brampton

A late afternoon crash in Brampton involving two vehicles sent two people to hospital.

Peel Regional Police say the collision happened at a busy intersection near Steeles Ave West and Windmill Boulevard shortly before 5:30 p.m.

Police say the driver of one of the vehicles was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, while a passenger in the other vehicle was taken to a trauma center with serious injuries.

Authorities have not released the names, ages or hometowns of the injured victims.

Additionally, officials have not indicated whether there were additional occupants in either vehicle at the time of the crash.

Several ambulances, police cars and a fire truck arrived at the scene of the accident.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

Currently, westbound traffic along Steeles Avenue is closed from McLaughlin Road South to Windmill Boulevard.

Drivers are asked to use alternate routes for the time being.

Police cannot yet say when the roads will reopen to the public.
