Murray Mallee police caught six drivers committing traffic offenses this weekend.

At around 1.50pm on Friday, April 19, Highway Patrol stopped a man driving a Holden 4WD on the Stott Highway Sedan. The driver, a 62-year-old local man, was drug tested and reportedly returned a positive result for methamphetamine. He lost his driver’s license on the spot for three months and his car was seized. His sample will be sent to Forensic Science SA for further analysis.

At approximately 10.20pm on Friday, April 19, Loxton Police stopped a Ford sedan on Tomlinson Court Loxton and spoke to the driver. Checks revealed the driver, a 39-year-old Loxton woman, had a disqualified driving licence. She received a report for driving suspension and her car was seized. She will appear before the Berri Magistrates Court at a later date.

On Saturday, April 20, around 1:40 a.m., Renmark police stopped a Mazda sedan on the new Renmark airstrip. Checks showed that the driver, a 22-year-old Renmark man, had a suspended driver’s license. Police had reason to search the vehicle and found a quantity of cannabis, methamphetamine and a pocket knife. He was reported for driving under suspension, possessing controlled drugs, trafficking controlled drugs, carrying an offensive weapon and breaching driver’s directions. He will appear before Renmark Magistrates Court at a later date. Below are photos of seized items.

At around 11.30pm on Saturday, April 20, Berri Police stopped a Volkswagen on Sturt Highway Berri. The driver, a 23-year-old woman from New South Wales, was subjected to a breath test and is said to have returned a result of 0.112. She was cited for drink driving and loss of driver’s license for six months. She will appear in court at a later date.

At around 9.30am on Sunday, April 21, Berri Police stopped a Honda Station Wagon on Murtho Street Renmark. Checks showed that the driver, a 43-year-old Renmark man, was driving under suspension. He was cited for driving with a suspended license and will appear in court at a later date.

At around 3.20pm on Sunday, April 21, police stopped an Audi sedan on Gordon Road Bookpurnong following reports of motoring. The driver, a 31-year-old man from Loxton, was tested for drugs and reportedly returned a positive result for methamphetamine. He was immediately given a three-month loss of license and his sample will be sent to Forensic Science SA for further analysis.
