A special intimate performance ‘Inside the bedroom’ was held at a hotel in Newcastle – and it was a performance like no other

When it comes to intimate performances, you can’t get much more intimate than seeing one in a hotel suite. And the INNSiDE Hotel on Newcastle’s Quayside offers visitors just that.

The hotel hosted an ‘INNSiDE the Bedroom’ event – a unique experience where emerging singers and songwriters perform in a hotel bedroom suite – against the backdrop of the beautiful Tyne Bridge.

I attended the last event, held in conjunction with the Aelious Alternative festival which took place in Newcastle. The festival showcased emerging talent, cultural venues and businesses in the city.

The hotel had three acts participating in the performance. When we arrived we were taken to the Townhouse Suite where we were offered drinks and some lovely canopies. We looked around the suite and admired the impressive views of the Quayside.

Once all the guests had arrived, about twenty in total, we sat down and met the performers. We were treated to performances by three grassroots artists. The first was Gemma Gates. Gemma sang four of her own songs and it was the perfect start to the evening. She was followed by Eliza Faye. Eliza had a brilliant, unique voice and increased the pace of the evening. The highlight was a cover of Beyonce’s Daddy Lessons.

Next up was Jupiter Strange – a number of members couldn’t make it, but as a duo we performed we certainly didn’t disappoint. They left guests mesmerized by their set.

After the performances, guests could have a drink and a nibble and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the evening by the river.

It was truly a performance with a difference and provided a unique experience with one of the best views in the city. It was a very chilled night – a perfect way to unwind and enjoy a Friday evening after work.

INNSiDE The Bedroom gigs are held at INNSiDE hotels across the UK and were first launched last year with Newcastle singer-songwriter Andrew Cushin, who took over an INNSiDE bedroom in Manchester with an acoustic set.

And the Newcastle hotel aims to host more events like this in the future – and if you’re a fan of basic music and chilling out after a busy week at work – then this is for you.
