NPFL: Enugu Rangers falter, Enyimba narrow gap at the top

Rivers United moved out of the relegation zone after a 2-0 home win over NPFL leaders Enugu Rangers, while Enyimba remained on course to challenge for the title after a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Sunshine Stars in Akure.

Rivers United now have 37 points from 25 matches, while Sunshine Stars were sucked into the drop zone after being held to a 1-1 draw away to Enyimba.

The away game against second-placed Enyimba now leaves them two points behind Rangers.

Plateau United climbed to fourth position after a 1-0 home win over Remo Stars.

The Jos club now has 50 points from 31 games.

Kano Pillars were a comfortable 4-0 winner against bottom club Gombe United, Kwara United improved their survival hopes with a 1-0 home win against Akwa United, while Katsina United defeated Sporting Lisbon 2-0.

Veteran Rabiu Ali rolled back the years with a brace for Pillars against Gombe.
