Nottingham Forest boss Nuno: Why are we always on the end of bad decisions?

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno admits there is great frustration at the club after Sunday’s defeat at Everton.

Forest were denied three penalties as they lost 2-0, with the club releasing a statement in the aftermath highlighting that the VAR, Stuart Atwell, is a Luton fan.

Nuno said: “I am aware of the complaint; of the club’s formal complaint that (they) did not feel comfortable with the VAR. PGMOL decides the other way.

“But it is not important whether he is a fan of another club or not. The referee and especially the VAR, they sit in a chair and have time to assess the images. I’d just like to understand why; why we were always on the receiving end of bad decisions.

“When we go back to the dressing room and we have access to the footage and you see it so clearly, you don’t understand why the decision was against us. I share, of course I share the feeling of the club, because it is not just about this match. It’s been a while since bad decisions have been made against us. It’s not an excuse, but we don’t feel comfortable with the work of the referees.”

On whether the statement was appropriate, Nuno said: “I cannot answer whether it is appropriate or not, but it is a feeling.

“It’s trying to avoid what happened today and not raise any more suspicions or thoughts that no one wants. It’s about prevention.

“It is a feeling of disappointment that we are always punished and that it is difficult to control, especially for the players. They felt like they worked hard and didn’t get what they deserved, especially from the referees.”
