The new proposed Aldi Store would create 20 full-time jobs in Monaghan

Twenty full-time jobs will be created if Aldi Ireland is successful with a planning application submitted last week for a new store in Monaghan Town.

The German outlet has submitted plans to build an 1,800 sqm single-storey grocery store at the Macartan Road and Glen Road junction.

The plans are part of the retail company’s further national expansion. Aldi has been trying for a number of years to establish an outlet in the provincial town on the site known as McNally’s car park.

Flood remediation and flood relief outside the Aldi site boundary led to these plans failing. Provincial planners will decide on this application in early July.
